Professor Marco Catani

Dr Marco Catani

Professor Catani sees patients at the Sloane Court Clinic with general psychiatric problems, different types of Attention Deficit Disorder and Autistic Spectrum Conditions. He also sees patients with cognitive and behavioural difficulties due to neurosurgery or neurological conditions. 

Professor Catani’s medico-legal work focuses on sport antidoping in professional athletes. He has provided expert opinion for the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and UK-Anti Doping (UKAD) to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) and the UK national anti-doping panel. He is in the UKAD Register of Psychiatrists.


Marco Catani is Professor of Neuroanatomy & Psychiatry at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience, King’s College London and Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist at The Maudsley Hospital. He is the head of the NatBrainLab (www.natbrainlab.com) and is actively involved in clinical research of neurodevelopmental and neuropsychiatric conditions. He has written more than 100 scientific papers and co-authored with Michel Thiebaut de Schotten the Atlas of Human Brain Connections(2012). He has received several awards, including the Norman Geschwind Prize in Behavioral Neurology from the American Academy of Neurology (2012). His work has been featured in the New Scientist, Scientific American Mind, British Medical Journal, and on BBC Radio 4. For his most recent book 'Brain Renaissance: from Vesalius to Modern Neuroscience' he has received the award for Outstanding Book in the History of the Neurosciences from the International Society for the History of Neurosciences (2016). He is section editor for the nervous system of the 42nd edition of the Gray's Anatomy and associate editor of international scientific journals.

Professor Catani is bilingual in English and Italian and is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) since 2005.

He is available to see general psychiatry problems such as anxiety and depression, as well as more specialist problems such as adult Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD), and Attention Deficit and Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), and patients with psychological and cognitive issues arising out of neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, neurosurgery, dementias, multiple sclerosis, movement disorders, and stroke.
