Dr Hannah Heims

Dr Hannah Heims

Dr Hannah Heims is a Clinical Psychologist. She is registered with the Health Professions Council and is a chartered member of the British Psychological Society.

Hannah has clinical experience in assessing and treating adults with psychological difficulties, both in the NHS and the private sector. She has experience of working with a diverse client group, with a varying degree and severity of psychological disorder (Depression, Anxiety, Panic Disorder, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Social Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, Anger, Bereavement, Bipolar Affective Disorder, Psychosis and Personality Disorders). She has worked in primary care (provision of psychological therapy at GP surgeries) and secondary care (provision of therapy within a Community Mental Health Team). She also has experience of working in a specialist centre for anxiety disorders and trauma, an affective disorders unit, and a specialist neuropsychology department. In addition to her clinical work, she supervises other psychologists and is involved in teaching CBT to a variety of health professionals.

Hannah is a reflective and skilled practitioner. She provides evidence-based psychological therapy following a comprehensive assessment and formulation. Therapy is informed by various models including; Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Schema Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT) and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy. The choice of therapeutic model will depend on evidence based practice guidelines, the results of the assessment and a client’s goals and preferences. Therapy is designed to be collaborative and tailored to an individual’s needs.

Hannah’s specialist interests include working with individuals suffering from depression and the anxiety disorders, in particular those suffering from Panic Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Social anxiety and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).
