Dr Alison Hauenstein Swan

Dr Alison Hauenstein Swan is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society. She is a highly specialist clinical psychologist at the Institute of Psychotrauma, at East London NHS Foundation Trust.
She has worked in the NHS for over ten years, within primary, secondary, in-patient and tertiary care and has also worked in a number of conflict zones overseas with Médecins Sans Frontières. She has extensive experience of problems related to psychological trauma, especially post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and depression, but has also worked with a diverse range of clients with difficulties ranging from mild to severe (including adjustment disorders, anger, anxiety, bereavement, bipolar affective disorder, eating disorders, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, psychosis and specific phobias).
Dr Hauenstein Swan brings to The Sloane Court Clinic particular skills in psychological treatment of PTSD and has an interest in psychosocial approaches to adjustment to adverse life events.
She is trained in a range of psychotherapeutic methods including cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), narrative exposure therapy and compassionate mind training.
