About The Sloane Court Clinic
The Sloane Court Clinic is an independent private psychiatric clinic providing psychiatric and psychological help and services to individuals, the healthcare departments of organizations such as national and transnational companies, small businesses, universities, and law firms (in occupational and civil law matters).
Our patients come from across London, the UK and EU, and internationally.
The Sloane Court Clinic provides treatment for an extensive range of psychological and psychiatric problems from the age of 18 upwards primarily in an outpatient setting, though inpatient care, and care in other settings can also be provided in London and elsewhere.
As would be expected of a medical service, our service is confidential, and we are able to provide special arrangements for people who require more flexible and discreet access to psychiatric care with us.
The Sloane Court Clinic was founded by, and is lead by, Dr Roger Howells, consultant psychiatrist, formerly a consultant psychiatrist at the Maudsley Hospital. Dr Howells received his psychiatric training at the Maudsley Hospital and Institute of Psychiatry; before this training in medicine in London teaching hospitals. He is a graduate of the School of Clinical Medicine, Cambridge University where as a student he was awarded the University’s Prize in Psychiatry.
In addition to his own broad clinical skills Dr Howells works with a range of associated professionals - psychiatrists, specialist consultant physicians, general practitioners, clinical psychologists, trauma and other counsellors, occupational therapists, and others – some at the Sloane Court Clinic, but also across London and internationally. It is one of the clinical aims of the clinic to provide the right treatment for the presenting problem, and where this is not available in-house, every effort will be made to find the right specialist care for the person elsewhere.
Equal weight is given to the physical and emotional aspects of care. Where relevant physical tests and opinions are sought to exclude coexistent medical illness, and pharmacological treatments are employed. Equally such approaches are accompanied or supplanted by psychological therapies administered by skilled accredited psychotherapists from different disciplines, particularly clinical psychology.
Emphasis is placed on good communication between those professionals managing a person’s treatment.
The individual attending the clinic has a consultant psychiatrist assessment followed, as required, by physical, pharmacological and/or psychological and emotional care under expert clinical supervision.
We provide evidence-based psychotherapies such as cognitive behavioural therapy.
